Todoist vs apple reminders12/11/2023 ![]() ![]() If it rains that day, it will set a task on my Reminders app. ![]() To do this, I connected the Weather Underground service to IFTTT to Reminders app so that at 7 am every day it checks the weather in London. So next time I have five minutes, I check the Read Later list on Reminders app to find a list of items to read.ģ) Weather - At 7.30 am, I get a reminder alert telling me if it will rain. ![]() So I created an integration from Inoreader to IFTT to my Reminders app to create a task when I start an article in Inoreader. My wife now tells Alexa to add a To-do, which will sync to my Reminders app.Ģ) Inoreader - I use Inoreader to track newsletters and posts that I read regularly, but sometimes I do not get a chance to read them, so I wanted to create a list of articles to read when I have a few minutes spare. So I created an integration from Alexa to IFTTT to my Reminders app. IFTTT is an integration service that lets you connect most services with a simple structure.Īdding Reminders app to IFTTT enables you to create tasks based on different events.ġ) Alexa - Every so often, my wife reminds me to do something, but I often forget to do it. So I wanted to share with you some of the ways I integrate the Reminders app to become one task list to manage my day. This ability allows the Reminders app to work with different workflows and allows users to have all tasks in one application. These features include intelligent lists and subtasks, cross-compatibility between MacBook, iPhone and iPad, and sharing task lists with other Apple users.īut one area that does not get the love it deserves is the ability to integrate with so many different platforms and applications. As I am sure you already know, it has some great features upgraded as part of the iOS 15 release. But the app I always go back to is the iOS Reminders app. I LOVE IT.I frequently see posts about the best To-do apps I have tried all the popular suggestions from Things to Todoist. Update: As of iOS 16 Beta 3, there is a new option in Settings to have Reminders show a badge for items due Today, regardless of the time they are due. 1 If the app let me see my number Overdue + Today tasks via the badge, I’d switch in a heartbeat. I would love the Reminders team to add this ability. Not everyone works this way, but I do, and I think a lot of other people do too. It’s useful on my Mac, but critical on my iPhone. ![]() I use this feature as a way to quickly and easily see how much I have left to accomplish on any given day. That’s fine, but every single third-party task manager I have every tried - and I’ve tried almost all of them - include Today tasks in their badge, either by default or by preference. There is no way to have Reminders show a badge for a task due Today.Ĭurrently, Reminders only picks up a badge when a task becomes overdue. However, there is one small feature that still keeps me from switching. With macOS and iOS 16, Reminders gains some powerful smart list features that I am really excited about. I’ve always hit some bit of friction, then returned to the third-party option. I’ve attempted to move from Todoist to Apple’s Reminders app a few times over the years. ![]()
